A three hour running time, common across much of mainstream Indian cinema, can feel daunting to viewers accustomed to considerably shorter international releases, but approaching the length with the right expectations transforms it from an obstacle into a genuine opportunity for the kind of narrative breadth a tighter film simply cannot offer.
Treating the runtime as an invitation to genuine immersion, rather than an endurance test to be tolerated, changes the entire viewing experience considerably, allowing space for musical interludes, subplots and character development that a more compressed structure would inevitably have to sacrifice or compress into something far less satisfying overall.
Practical preparation helps too: watching with a proper intermission break, as originally intended, rather than in one unbroken sitting, mirrors how the film was actually structured and paced by its makers from the very beginning. Approached this way, a longer running time becomes a genuine feature rather than any kind of unwelcome burden.
